Adult ADHD
Have you ever thought to yourself that certain things don't add up over your life?
That you know something is not quite right but you can't put your finger on it!
And for most of your adult life you have been asking yourself:
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME!!?
Well have a read of this and see if you can finally get an answer:
Adults with ADHD may not even realise the problems they can have within,
a working environment, relationships, and trying to raise a family because of this disorder.
This condition is mainly associated with children, and that’s when for many people they are first diagnosed.
Although it’s estimated that up to 60 per cent of cases the symptoms persist beyond childhood.
The impact of untreated ADHD
In adults, employment prospects are poor.
There is an increased risk of criminality and substance misuse.
A driver with ADHD is at substantially increased risk of driving offences and accidents.
Relationships are unstable.
There are often other separate conditions affecting mood and behaviour, for example depression or anxiety.
If you are a parent with ADHD, you are likely to be on the lookout for the inherited tendency in your own child.
In fact, some adults with ADHD are only diagnosed after their own child has had a diagnosis.
The signs of ADHD show up in childhood, but in an adult they are less easy to spot.
This is because some of the most obvious signs of ADHD may not be quite so marked because of your maturity.
If you are an adult with ADHD, you may have learned to keep some of your behaviour under control some of the time.
Questions to ask yourself?????
Do you find it hard to stop and think before doing or saying anything?
Do you sometimes get in difficult situations because you have reacted angrily?
Is it hard for you to concentrate?
Are you disorganised at work and at home?
Do people say ‘I never know where I am with you’?
Are you known to have a hot temper and mood swings?
Have you lost jobs because of poor being late or because it’s hard for you to stick to a task?
Do you start projects and then abandon them?
Do you think you fidget a lot of the time?
